White House calls the bill “transformational and historic.”
On Sunday, a bipartisan group of Senators, working toward a joint infrastructure bill, released the culmination of months of discussions. The proposed bill tops out at 2,702 pages and has a sticker price of $1.2 trillion. The bill would set an 8-year plan for improving the nation’s roads, bridges, public transit systems, and other utility infrastructure. Though lower than President Biden’s initial bid for a national overhaul, the measure has gained support across the aisle.
The White House responded to the release, stating, “The $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework is a critical step in implementing President Biden’s Build Back Better vision. The Plan makes transformational and historic investments in clean transportation infrastructure, clean water infrastructure, universal broadband infrastructure, clean power infrastructure, remediation of legacy pollution, and resilience to the changing climate.”
